The Beavers Project

The Brief
We were approached by FTI Consulting on behalf of Amazon’s Right Now Climate Fund to capture the moment five beavers were released in London for the first time in 400 years. Mayor Sadiq Khan led the event with the help from project partners Ealing Wildlife Group, Citizen Zoo, Ealing Council, Friends of Horsenden Hill and Groundwork London.
The Solution
We captured the release of the beavers in London as well as the crowds that gathered to give the moment a sense of celebration of the occasion. We decided to set up at a different location to other media to get a different angle and made sure we have the correct lenses to be able to capture the moment from afar. The challenge was whether the beavers would be camera shy and become elusive once in the water, however we captured some great content of the beavers swimming which made for some great content.
The Results
The edit was completed very quickly after the shoot and then offered to the wire for distribution. We spoke to our social team before the shoot to let them know that we had video content coming and they wrote some copy to accompany the video and images. The video got some great coverage which included The Independent, Evening Standard, Yahoo, Aol and dozens of regional sites.
