Eurostar's Golden Train - PA Media
The Project

Eurostar’s Golden Train

Service

Photography & Video

The Brief

Our team was tasked to produce a video celebrating the unveiling of Eurostar’s Golden Train in St. Pancras International, London. The primary objective was to showcase the train’s magnificence as it prepared to transport Team GB Olympic and Paralympic athletes to Paris and back. Additionally, we were tasked with conducting interviews with Olympic Champions Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Perri Shakes-Drayton, as well as Paralympic swimmer Maisie Summers-Newton, who will compete in this year’s Paralympic Games. We needed to create B-Roll, and an edited package for the PA wire within a few hours of the train departing. We also captured photography content for immediate distribution.

The Solution

The team captured footage of the train’s arrival at St. Pancras International in London, followed by on-site interviews with the athletes. From these interviews, it was evident that the athletes unanimously preferred traveling by train to Paris 2024 over flying, both for the environment and for the athletes’ well-being. The proximity of this year’s Olympic Games to the UK is perceived as advantageous, potentially aiding in their quest for gold, silver, and bronze medals.

Our team also interviewed Simon Lejeune, Eurostar Chief Safety and Stations Officer, who emphasized that the partnership between Eurostar and Team GB would contribute to making this the most environmentally friendly Games to date. To conclude the shoot, our crew filmed the train’s departure from London to Paris, marking the commencement of its many forthcoming journeys.

The Results

Photos, B-Roll and ready-to-air video package were promptly accepted by the PA Wire, resulting in widespread national coverage.

Our Social Affairs journalist crafted an article accompanying our content, highlighting the Golden Train and its summer usage. Concurrently, our Sports Reporter utilized our video content to write an article featuring Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill’s predictions for Paris 2024.

Our content was prominently featured on ITV News and London Live broadcasts, as well as in publications such as the Daily Mail, Evening Standard, Eurosport, The Independent, Metro, and many more.
