By PA Mediapoint 03/10/2023

Giving users exclusive access to PA Media’s breaking news stories at the same time as the media, PA Mediapoint is our unrivalled news monitoring service for PR and communication professionals across the UK and Ireland. Whether you would like to stay abreast of top trending news stories, generate publicity or manage a PR crisis, it can be the critical difference when a story breaks.

In this month’s staff spotlight, we are pleased to introduce new team member Zoheb Khan, Senior Sales Executive at PA Mediapoint.

What is your job role at Mediapoint and what does a typical working day entail for you?

I work as a Senior Sales Executive, and typically I would come in, have a coffee, sign into the newswire, and see what interesting things are happening in the news so I can decide which companies to reach out to. This will normally take up most the morning, so in the afternoon I will speak to my existing clients and check any other proposals I may have out, to try and close them. Throw in a couple of internal meetings here and there. Despite this, no two days are ever the same!

How would you describe PA Mediapoint in one sentence?

The company that connects journalists with newsmakers.

Tell us about your career journey, both at PA Mediapoint and what led you to working here?

I have always worked in Sales and that was obviously my dream as a kid too. I have worked for companies where I am tied down to a sector, which I didn’t want to be so I found this job looking for something that gave me more freedom. Today I could easily speak to a charity and a fast food chain restaurant in the morning, and a university and then a top fashion brand in the afternoon, always keeping it interesting! The progression here too is great, just in my first month my manager was discussing with me where I want to be in 1 year with PA. We are now working towards getting me into more of a mentoring role in the next 12 months.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

Management who listen and support, and also the free books, free videogames and free gym access.

What’s been the biggest changes in the PR industry that you have noticed?

Two changes I have noticed are 1. The use of influencers – these are now strategized into PR campaigns across social media, more than ever before. 2. The rise of new media outlets and the decline of traditional media – e.g. LadBible, BuzzFeed, Unilad to name a few.

How do you see the industry changing within the next five years?

I think AI will become key in content generation, developing PR strategies and even using data and analytics to measure results of campaigns to find new strategies.

Tell us a bit about yourself outside of work? What hobbies do you enjoy?

I wish I had something more exciting to write here but I enjoy the same boring usual things as anyone else, such as parkour, fire spinning, axe throwing, skydiving, and you can read all about it in my new book coming out titled ‘Chasing the Thrill’.
