In this month’s staff spotlight, we are pleased to introduce you to the newest member of the PA Mediapoint team, Ehiedu Isibo.

What is your job role at Mediapoint and what does a typical working day entail for you?
My job role here at Mediapoint is a Business Development Representative. My typical working day would look like this:

I would spend the first half hour of my day doing some morning prep and organisation. This would include reviewing emails and messages and responding accordingly, prioritising tasks for the day and attending the morning team call discussing objectives for the day. Next, I would spend an hour doing some prospecting and lead generation. So, researching prospects and leads within the PR and comms space, in preparation for my outreach. Then, at around 10:30 I would spend time doing outreach via multiple channels such as cold calling, emails, LinkedIn messaging and MS teams. In the afternoon I would update the CRM with my notes as well as respond to any emails and messages or conduct discovery calls booked. The final part of my day would be spent reviewing the effectiveness of the strategies I employed and analysing what went well and what could be improved and discussing this in the wrap up call with my team.

How would you describe PA Mediapoint in one sentence?
An exciting range of services, that provides invaluable direction and insight to PR and Comms teams.

Tell us about your career journey, both at PA Mediapoint and what led you to working here?
I started off my career in Sales whilst I was at university in the year of 2021 working for major electronics retailers Currys and Samsung for one year each respectively and it was at these roles where I discovered my passion and talent for sales. Hitting targets and making commission on top of my base salary really appealed to me ultimately leading to me deciding to enter a career of sales. And that is exactly what I did so after graduating from London South Bank University with a degree in Biological Science where I landed my first grad job as an SDR company in the edtech space.

I was there for 6 months but decided to look for new exciting opportunities in more dynamic industries and that is when I came across PA Media. I had researched the company and was impressed with the diverse range of sectors that Mediapoint’s services would be useful for. This is great for BDRs like me as it allows freedom and independence when prospecting which will lead to meetings/ demos booked. I went through the process, and it was it was very informative, smooth and transparent which left a good impression on what it would be like to work here, and I was offered the role after three interviews and had no second thoughts about accepting.

Favourite thing about your job?
Being the first point of contact/ representation of potentially successful and long-lasting client relationships.

How do you see the industry changing within the next five years?
Based upon my current research I see the importance of public relations for corporate companies, public sector and charities becoming a main focus for these organisations in the next five years and foreseeable future. With the ever-growing importance of social media as well as the impact it can have on how successful companies are in terms of the message they are conveying or the product or services they are offering, PR is vitally important.

Tell us a bit about yourself outside of work? What hobbies do you enjoy?
Outside of work I enjoy travelling to different parts of the world, doing fun activities such as going to escape rooms, arcades and paint balling to name a few. I also enjoy visiting various restaurants around London experiencing different cuisines and going to the Gym.
