Today’s Photo of the Week has been chosen by Marketing and Team Assistant Eliza. It’s from the unveiling of Derren Brown’s Ghost Train, which will open at Thorpe Park in Spring. Eliza picked this image as she likes the angle the picture is taken from; that it’s both colourful and dark at the same time and has lots of detail to tell the story in just one frame. She is also a big fan of Derren and can’t wait to try out the attraction when it opens.
We’ve chosen this image from the launch of Winter Lights 2016 as our Picture of the Week as it demonstrates the appeal and credibility that having a person involved in your photo stunt can bring. With the young boy interacting with the installation the viewer is immediately presented with an idea of scale. It’s also great that the child’s natural and honest reaction is to recreate the positioning of the installation by peering through the face and of course the fact that the light display is shot at night time to show it’s vibrancy.
Christmas can often be fairly quiet in the country’s newsrooms and many media outlets are left with a skeleton of staff whose main resources are taken up by breaking news. This presents the problem of empty space in news bulletins and papers. For this reason, over the next few days and weeks journalists will be on the lookout for stories they can film or write up and keep to their ‘Christmas Box’ to run at any point throughout the festive period.
It’s been ten years since the last Star Wars blockbuster movie or thirty-two years if you don’t count the prequels (as most fans of the original don’t). There’s been animations, merchandise, computer games, comic books, fan-made re-edits and outlandish theories about the galaxy far far away. Excitement is rife with Star Wars fans; however there is also the dreaded feeling of anxiety. The one word that everybody fears. It can ambush you at any time; it seems innocuous but it can ultimately be devastating! SPOILERS! Just one sentence uttered or written down can undo the years of suspense for one of the most anticipated movies of all time.
We really like this picture for a number of reasons; the theme helps bring a softer and fun side to what is usually quite a mundane location (a car-park), the use of complementary colours of red and green highlight the festive atmosphere and the message of Santa renting his sleigh for Christmas is very clear. All in all a good fun photo for the build up to Christmas!
