The beginning of a new year is when we would typically be making plans for the months ahead, such as holidays, gigs, festivals and tickets for sporting events.
Whilst plans for spectators of sport remain on hold; our sports photographers continue to capture the action, albeit under very different circumstances.
The Covid-19 guidelines for live sporting events have brought many challenges, which our photographers have met face on with the continued dedication to delivering the best possible service for our customers. Online health checks, venue temperature checks, social distancing, face masks and bubbles (sometimes bubbles within bubbles) have become the new ‘normal’.
Photographer passes to sports events are limited; however, our strong relationships with customers have allowed us to continue to deliver without too much disruption.
Despite the challenges, our photographers have grasped the opportunity to document sport in the Covid-era with both hands.
2020 has been a challenging year in so many ways. As what also seems like the longest year on record draws to a close, I wanted to round up some of the highlights from one of our newest services, Press Release Distribution.
This new service has grown by more than 125% this year despite the backdrop of Covid-19, with 20 new press release partners joining us and a huge upswing in the number of ad hoc releases sent out.
2020 held much promise for the world of sport with Euro 2020 and the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games seen as two standout events that would be enjoyed globally by sporting fans, both at home and in stadia.
The pandemic of course put stop to that, and we saw a wide cancellation of live sport and it was only in May when the Bundesliga showed us how sport could return albeit in a new, more safeguarded way.
