On the day of the shoot we arrived at Big Sky studios with kit in arm, full of excitement to meet X-Factors’ finest, Olly Murs (definitely disappointed he won’t be presenting it this year!). The studios were incredibly spacious and there was a fresh breakfast spread available; which certainly helped us to get ready for the day ahead.
We have chosen this photo for a variety of reasons; we like the ‘in the moment’ element that the photographer has managed to capture. Along with the dramatic scene, the facial expressions are a true depiction of the ‘magic’ that is science. The fire erupting from the bottle is also a good source of light, shining from below up onto the faces of the characters. This photo all in all really does embody the wonder of science and the awe it provides school children, which is why we have chosen it as our favourite one of the week.
Whether you applaud George Osborne’s Budget or despair of it, there’s no denying that his Budget speech is a masterclass in messaging. A few minutes later the man himself, the grand illusionist, magician impossible arrived in a puff of smoke…from the exhaust of the car that dropped him off. He walked over to us and shook our hands in greeting. I quickly checked my watch and realised it was missing… then I realised that I didn’t wear a watch so all was well.
