Fact check: No evidence Zack Polanski made border statement

By August Graham, Press Association
14:28 - April 16, 2026

A widely shared post on social media claimed that Green Party leader Zack Polanski had said: “The first thing I will do after being elected is deploy our military to secure our borders.”

Evaluation

There is no evidence Mr Polanski has said the words attributed to him in the post.

The facts

Extensive online searches have revealed no credible evidence that Mr Polanski said he would deploy the military to secure the UK’s borders.

In fact, Mr Polanski appears to have taken the opposite view in the past.

In December last year, three months after he was elected as leader of the Greens, he wrote on social media that money spent on “militarisation of the border” should be diverted elsewhere.

In response to a query, the Green Party said: “To the best of our knowledge, this is nonsense.”
