Barbie Phone Unboxing

The Brief

A client asked us to create an unboxing video for a Barbie-themed phone. The video needed to be engaging and visually appealing within a tight 60-second window. This meant we had to carefully manage the pacing of the unboxing to keep viewers interested, while also making sure every item in the box was properly show. We also needed to make sure the lighting was just right to capture the brand’s signature pink colour without it looking too intense or washed out.

The Solution

To meet these challenges, we brought in additional crew members to set up the lighting. We used a pink studio and hired soft, bright lights to make sure the pink popped without being overpowering. The model wore a white jacket to contrast with the pink, and the model wore Barbie-themed nails to make the unboxing look even more stylish. We paid close attention to framing and angles, using a bird’s-eye view close-up to capture all the little details of the accessories. We also directed the model on the pacing to keep the flow of the unboxing smooth and engaging. The entire set was designed with Barbie’s playful branding in mind, sticking to a pink and complementary colour scheme.

The Results

The video attracted a lot of attention online, quickly getting picked up by several media outlets and online newspapers after the video was released to the wire. It spread across social media, generating widespread visibility. The coverage from various sources helped increase interest in the Barbie phone, with the buzz online driving even more attention to the product. The media exposure significantly boosted the reach of the video and helped create a lot of excitement around the release.
