For this months staff spotlight, we are pleased to introduce Caitlin Shirvington, our Video Producer, who recently joined the team bringing her creativity and expertise to the table.

What is your job role at Assignments and what does a typical working day entail for you?

As a Video Producer at Assignments, my role revolves around overseeing productions from conception to delivery. My day usually begins with receiving a brief from the client, followed by diving into pre-production tasks such as crafting call sheets, treatments, risk assessments, and formulating interview questions. On shoot days, I take charge of directing the talent and ensuring we capture all necessary footage. Finally, I collaborate closely with the editing team to bring our clients’ visions to life in the deliverables.

How would you describe Assignments in one sentence?

We are PA Media’s photo & video production department.

Tell us about your career journey, both at Assignments and what led you to work here.

I went to Bournemouth University & studied Media Production, in my third year I did a year placement in TV advertising. When I finished university, I joined a production company that specialised in motorsport & luxury hotels, I worked as a Production Exec then Assistant Producer. I did 6 months in events after but discovered events wasn’t for me.  I saw this job opportunity come up & I knew I wanted to go back into video after reading the job responsibilities, as this job allowed me to use my creativity by producing treatments, production paperwork and directing on set with talent.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

My favourite thing about this job is the people. Everyone is so nice & friendly and we work really well as a team.

What’s been the biggest changes in the PR & Comms industry that you have noticed?

Using AI for production paperwork, such as risk assessments & imagery for treatments.

How do you see the industry changing within the next five years?

With the ongoing rise of social media channels, PR and communications professionals will continue to prioritise online engagement. This includes crafting compelling digital content, leveraging influencer partnerships, and utilizing data analytics to measure and optimize campaigns.

Tell us a bit about yourself outside of work. What hobbies do you enjoy?

I like to go to the gym outside of work and go & see my friends!
