About us

Election Check 24, supported by the Google News Initiative, is a coalition of news publishers and fact-checkers brought together by PA Media, the UK and Ireland’s national news agency, to counter misinformation around the UK’s general election.

The general election is bringing new and more sophisticated challenges for platforms, publishers and reporters, with significant warnings about the likely quality and volume of disinformation that will test the integrity of the UK’s democracy – and the media which holds it to account.

Against this backdrop, PA Media’s fact-checking operation – accredited by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN) – has established Election Check 24 to counter misinformation around the UK’s general election campaign.
