Video of the Month: The Grand Tour arrives in London

By Craig Gunn 23/02/2017

Client: Amazon / Agency: Premier PR

Challenge

To raise awareness of the launch of the ‘The Grand Tour’ series on Amazon, TNR was commissioned to produce  video footage for an edited package for online media, B-Roll for broadcasters and photography which captured the giant statue heads of presenters Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond returning home to the UK after travelling 30,000 miles across 3 continents.

Solution

The 3 giant stone heads travelled across the motorway before arriving in London where they appeared at Parliament Square; Westminster Bridge; Trafalgar Square: The Mall; Buckingham Palace and Piccadilly Circus.  To ensure we didn’t miss out any key moments we strapped go-pros to the dashboard of the spotter van following them which made for an excellent angle following the heads and passer-bys’ reactions.  The crew worked to a tight schedule and kept kit light to ensure that they could nimbly move around the various locations which ensured that we captured all the best shots.

Results

The edited video was successfully run on the PA video wire which meant that it was automatically picked up by Yahoo News; AOL; Yahoo Finance and Daily Record.  It also reached the Mail Online.  The B-Roll was successfully run on Channel 5 evening news as well as appearing on the official Channel 5 Facebook page.
